Sit Spot Challenge

November 12-16 Washington School participated in a Sit Spot Challenge. Studies have overwhelmingly shown the difference time outside, among trees and wild beings makes on our overall health. Classes went outside for 5-10 minutes each day during the week.

DAY 1: Students had the opportunity to be quiet and to take notice of the nature and wildlife in their spot. Students got familiar with their spots so they could notice any differences day to day. At their Sit Spot, students tried to find the 4 directions (North, South, East and West) from their spot.

Day 2: Students were settled into their spots. They noticed 3 or more things at your spot that they did not notice before.

Day 3: Students used their sense of hearing at their spots. What sounds did you hear? What was the quietest sound you heard? What was the sound coming from furthest away?

Day 4: Students used their sense of sight at their spots. What colors, textures and shapes are you seeing?
