Dear Lincoln School Community,
Today, the number 3.14 was on everyone's minds as students participated in a series of fun math games and activities in honor of the number Pi. Thank you to the many parent volunteers who assisted, and a special note of gratitude to our parent coordinators, Mrs. Joudeh and Mrs. Pianelli, as well as our staff for helping facilitate the lessons.
Please join us on the evening of Wednesday, March 18th for the annual Lincoln School Science Fair! We look forward to seeing the experiments, explorations, and exciting research done by our young scientists. The Lincoln School Science Fair will be held from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Wednesday, March 18th, in the Lincoln School gymnasium.
Next week, Lincoln joins with schools throughout the District and nation in recognizing Neurodiversity Celebration Week. This initiative focuses on and celebrates the many ways that our brains learn, and challenges misconceptions about neurological differences. We have Morning Meeting messages and slides centered around the theme of neurodiversity, as well as read alouds in the classroom to assist students in deepening their understanding of individual differences. Finally, we welcome our students and staff to wear Tie Dye next Friday in recognition of Neurodiversity Celebration Week.
In addition to Read Across America Week, we will be extending our love of reading with a monthlong Lincoln Loves Reading celebration!. A schedule for the month, including suggested dates for chapter readings, may be found here. If your child and family would like to listen along to a Lincoln staff member read the chapters of Mr. Popper’s Penguins aloud, please click here to access the audio files. There are also select picture book videos from our staff included as well.
In addition, we once again have a Lincoln Loves Reading challenge for the month of March. Students and staff will try to collectively read the height of all of the Lincoln School ‘grownups,’ earning progress towards the goal for each book read. If we can conquer this challenge, I have agreed (with some creative student input) to work towards a fun schoolwide reward. Students will share their ideas for the reward in Media classes. Please click here to view the Lincoln Loves Reading Challenge 2026 form, and input books read for the challenge. For any students who would like to independently input their reading to our Lincoln challenge form, Mrs. Flanagan will share the link with students in grades 2-5 in their technology Google Classroom. I can’t wait to see which reward we choose, and if students can meet our schoolwide goal!
Report cards will be going live on the Genesis Parent Portal on Friday, March 27th at the end of the school day. Report cards are essential tools of communication between your child's teacher and you, as parents and guardians. I look forward to continued collaboration between home and school as we work together to ensure your child's academic success. If you have any difficulty accessing the portal, please email our Genesis helpdesk at genesis@wyckoffps.org.
Please note that Monday is a minimum day for all students for staff professional development. There will be a 1:05 pm dismissal. Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Patrick Lee
Principal
