WW

Dear Families,

I hope you’ve all had a fun, restful summer! I am only a few short weeks in, but It’s truly an honor to be joining such a warm and welcoming school community here in Wyckoff. Welcome to your first weekly update. These will be posted Friday afternoons.

As we gear up for a fantastic new school year, I want to start off by expressing my sincere gratitude to our incredible maintenance crew and office staff. Their tireless efforts over the summer have been instrumental in preparing our building and school operations. Their dedication and behind-the-scenes work are vital. You'll be amazed at how spotless our building is!

To our returning families, welcome back! And to those who are new to Washington, I can’t wait to meet you and your children. Our school theme for the year will be Ignite the Spark, a New Beginning! I look forward to working together, getting to know each of you, and building on the strong foundation of care, learning, and community that makes Washington so special.

Speaking of New Beginnings, the new additions to our playground and our beautiful stage are now complete! If you haven't seen them yet, prepare to be amazed. We want to give a huge thank you to the Wyckoff District for their funding and the PTO for their meticulous planning and oversight in making these new additions a reality. Please join us for a small ribbon-cutting ceremony at our first PTO meeting, where we will proudly unveil The Onward and Upward Stage to our community.

On Tuesday, August 26th at 3:00 p.m., the Genesis Parent Portal will be available for all parents to log in, fill out their required forms, and access their homerooms and schedules. All parents must log on and fill out the school forms for each child before seeing their child’s homeroom or schedule on Genesis. The Genesis parent login page has changed from last year, please use this URL to log in: https://parents.c3.genesisedu.net/wyckoff/sis/view?gohome=true . The new address is on the WSD website and can be accessed through the Genesis icon. If you do not receive this email or have any difficulty logging into Genesis please contact the helpdesk at Genesis HelpDesk: genesis@wyckoffps.org.

As a reminder, to help with one of the forms that has to be filled out, all students are currently considered unescorted when they are dismissed from school at the end of the school day.  An unescorted student will be taken to the designated school exit by a staff member and shall leave school by walking, biking, riding in a car or using another parent/guardian designated method without being signed-out and “officially escorted”.  Currently, students are released to an adult by their teacher after the teacher sees the parent (or known caretaker) and are considered unescorted.  If parents/guardians decide to have their child officially escorted, students shall be taken to a designated room in school to be picked up and signed out by one of the persons authorized to do so daily.  The individual escorting the student is required to go to the area designated in the school for student pick-up and sign-out.  Picture identification will be required for any adult that is not recognized by the school personnel.

On September 2nd at 2:00 pm, we invite our incoming Kindergarten students and their parents to our annual Kindergarten Orientation. This is a key event that will help your child transition smoothly into our school. The students will spend time with their new teachers and classmates in their classrooms, and I will meet with parents during the orientation, which should last approximately 45 minutes.

This summer, the Board of Education approved the appointment or rearrangement of a few teachers and instructional aids at Washington School.
