Dear Washington Wizards,
What a busy week we had here! It was so wonderful to meet so many of you this week, please say hi if you see me out and about! The students are already settling into routines, building connections, and showing excitement for the year ahead. It’s been such a joy to see their curiosity, kindness, and energy shine through our classroom.
A few announcements and updates to review:
Picture day is now scheduled for 9/22 with a new rain date to follow.
Back to School Night is scheduled for 9/16 - more information will come this week about times and locations
Lunch and Recess Updates:
Students may not share food. Remember we are a ‘nut aware’ school.
Students may not bring toys, stuffed animals, books, or other personal items to the playground.
Proper shoes must be worn at all times. No slides, slippers, sandals, or Crocs. If students are wearing these, they are limited to the blacktop only.
Students are required to wear sneakers to participate in Physical Education classes. Crocs, boots, or sandals are not permitted for PE class
NEW THIS YEAR: Except in the case of a rare emergency, parents may not sign children out of school between 3:00 and 3:20 P.M. as our office is hectic at that time, ensuring a safe dismissal for all.
Students will be taking their i-Ready assessments next Thursday and Friday. Please help your child come to school ready to do their best by ensuring they get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. Thank you for your support!
We truly value strong communication between home and school! Please keep in mind that our staff also have families and responsibilities outside of school hours. If you send an email after working hours, you may not receive a response until the following school day. Additionally, during the school day, teachers are focused on their students and are not always able to check email. For urgent needs, such as late dismissal changes, please contact the main office directly, as they are best able to assist you right away. Thank you for all the support you’ve given at home to help make this transition smooth. We’re looking forward to many more weeks of learning and growing together.
