Dear Washington Wizards,

We’ve had a meaningful and busy week here at Washington as we wrap up our school-wide community service projects. Our students worked with big hearts collecting items, creating cards, and helping others in ways that truly make a difference. Thank you for supporting these efforts at home!

Shout-Outs & Spotlights

Family conferences - We want to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all the families who took the time to attend our recent conferences. Your participation and engagement were invaluable and truly demonstrate the strength of the partnership between home and school.

Reminders for Families

Please check the Lost and Found in the MPR during conferences on Monday, November 10th and 17th. All unclaimed items will be donated after these dates.

Picture day retakes are scheduled for Wednesday, November 19th. If your child was absent on the original picture day, or if you are not satisfied with their previous photos, this is your opportunity for a fresh take! To ensure a smooth process, please make sure to inform both your child and their teacher if you would like them to have a retake. This will help us organize the students and minimize any disruption to their classroom schedule.

Monday November 17th is a minimum day (1:05 pm dismissal) and November 18th is a delayed opening (10:20 am start time). There is no lunch for students in grades 1-5 on November 17th (the minimum day); however, there is lunch served on Tuesday November 18th (the delayed opening).

Colder weather seems to be upon us! We make every effort to go outside for recess each day, even in cold weather, as fresh air and exercise are important! With that being said, please keep this in mind when choosing winter outerwear for your children.

Tuesday marks our 50th school day. We'll be sending out attendance letters to families whose students are nearing "chronically absent" status. The Wyckoff BOE Policy #5200 defines "chronically absent" as a student who has missed 10% or more of the school year so far. Showing up for school every day really matters! Missing school means lost learning time, gaps in content knowledge, and fewer chances to build friendships. Please keep an eye on your child's attendance.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Sincerely,

Kelly O’Brien
