School wide MM

Dear Washington Wizards,

February is all about sparking connection. As the days stay cozy and the pace of life slows just a bit, it’s the perfect time to reconnect with people who’ve meant something to us. This month’s challenge is simple but powerful: help your child reach out to an old friend they haven’t spoken to in a while. A quick text, a phone call, or even a shared memory can reignite a long-lost bond and remind both of you how meaningful those connections still are.

Shout-Outs & Spotlights

Going Gold - A big shout-out to this month's Golden Sneaker winners! For grades K-2, the winning class is 2L.For grades 3-5, the winning class is 5K. This is 2L’s second win!  Both classes earned this honor for showing all the core virtues in PE and for working so hard! Congratulations!

Reminders for Families

This Wednesday is our February Spirit Day. Let’s see all your Washington wear!

Valentine’s Day is soon! As a reminder, food or goody bags are not permitted. If you’d like, students may attach a simple non-edible item, such as a sticker or a pencil.

It’s that time of year, Global School Play Day!! This annual event encourages schools worldwide to dedicate time to unstructured, screen-free, and adult-led-free play. Its primary goal is to foster creativity, social skills, and problem-solving in children.  This year, we celebrate on Wednesday 2/4. Students will have 2 uninterrupted hours of play. Students can bring anything they wish to play on that day. The only restrictions are these toys may not require batteries or electricity. Some ideas: board games, dolls, Legos, blocks, trucks, cars, racetracks, playing cards, empty cardboard boxes, markers, jigsaw puzzles etc.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Sincerely,

Kelly O’Brien
