Dear Washington Wizards,

As the month winds down, it’s a great time to reflect on how much our students have learned, created, and grown. We’ve seen teamwork, perseverance, and plenty of school spirit, on the playground, in the classroom, and everywhere in between. Here’s to finishing March strong and carrying that momentum right into spring!

Shout-Outs & Spotlights

Green Fun - A huge shout-out to our fantastic 5th-grade role models! They spent time helping our first graders with their leprechaun traps. Unfortunately no one was successful, better luck next year!

Book Bonanza - Thank you to our dedicated Book Fair Chairs Brooke Barkan, Karen Lee, Meghan Livingston, and Ashley McGinnis and all the parent volunteers who gave their time this week. Your efforts ensured that all our students walked away with a great new book (or pencil or poster or eraser…. the real book fair highlights).

Reminders for Families

Join us for next Connected Parent Series: Growth Mindset and the Power of Learning Through Struggle on Thursday, April 9th, 7:15 – 8:15 PM in the Washington MPR to discover simple, practical ways to encourage and empower your child to embrace challenges, build resilience, and develop a growth mindset in learning and life. See attached flyer for more details.

Report cards will be available on the Genesis Parent Portal on Friday, March 27th, at the end of the school day. If you have difficulty accessing the portal, please email our Genesis helpdesk at genesis@wyckoffps.org.

Kindergarten Family Conferences will be held the week of April 13th. Please look for an email from your child’s teacher with scheduling information.

The third and final i-Ready Diagnostic will be administered during the week of April 6th.Teachers have been using data from previous assessments to identify specific student needs, set goals, differentiate instruction, and implement targeted small-group and personalized interventions. The results of this April diagnostic will help teachers set goals for the remainder of the school year.

Please see the note attached in our Friday folder from Assistant Superintendent Grace White regarding the NJSLA. The New Jersey Department of Education has released an NJSLA Adaptive Informational Session recording you can view here: New Jersey Assessment Information Session.
