Dear Washington Wizards,
Welcome to May! This month, we're encouraging everyone to continue our yearly challenge to Ignite the Spark, A New Beginning: Spark Adventure and embrace their inner explorer right in their own backyard. The challenge is simple: be a tourist for a day and explore your own city! Visit a local museum you've always meant to see, discover a hidden gem in a park, or wander through a neighborhood you've never truly explored before. You might be surprised at the wonderful sights and experiences your community has to offer.
Shout-Outs & Spotlights
Read Baby, Read - A huge thank you to Mrs. Telesmanich and the PTO for organizing our author visit this month, which included an assembly, lunch, and signed books!
Honoring Our Front Office - We deeply appreciate Mrs. Marchisin and Mrs. Eischen on Administrative Professionals Day. As the backbone of our office, their dedication, professionalism, and commitment ensure smooth daily operations. Please join us in celebrating their invaluable contributions and hard work!
Bike Safety - Sincere appreciation to Brian Zivkovich and the Wyckoff Police Department, along with Mrs. Georgetti, Mrs. Helfst, and Mrs. Tripodi, for their help with Bike Safety Day for our 3rd and 4th graders. We had a fun day and great weather!
Thank you to the Wyckoff Township Committee, Shade Tree Commission, and Environmental Commission for our new Almeda Cherry tree, donated in recognition of Arbor Day. Check it out on the right side of our school.
Reminders for Families
We are excited to share some incredible student growth this year! From our first to our third I-Ready diagnostic, students in all grades have shown meaningful progress, reflecting the hard work happening in classrooms every day. Even more impressive, when compared to this same point last year, our students have made a 4% gain in reading and a remarkable 15% gain in math. While the I-Ready assessment is just one measure, this growth is a strong indicator of the dedication, consistency, and effort our students and staff bring each day—and it’s something our entire school community can celebrate. Check out the whole-school data below from last year and this year. Additionally, Here are parent directions to access your child’s i-Ready reports.
Recently, we have noticed an increase in the number of toys, fidgets, and “squishies” that students have brought to school. While these can be engaging for students, we have noticed that they often create significant distractions in the classroom. To help our students stay focused on learning, please help us make sure that all personal toys, fidgets, and "squishies" stay at home. If your child has a specific need outlined in a plan, we will continue to provide those accommodations.
We invite you to celebrate the arts at our Art Night on Friday, May 8th, from 4:30 – 6:00 pm, where every student's artwork will be proudly displayed throughout the school halls. Please note that all students must be accompanied by an adult throughout the entire event.
Please check the Lost and Found! Art Night is a great opportunity to look through the lost and found. A video showcasing all items is also available on Instagram. All remaining clothes will be placed outside the following week and then donated.
