Dear Washington Wizards,

⭐ Laying the Foundation: A Message from Mrs. O’Brien

As we step into October, our school community is focusing on our next building block: kindness. Throughout the month, students will explore key themes of inclusion, respect, and friendship in their daily routines. We encourage families to reinforce these important values at home as we embrace our guiding theme: "The strongest magic is kindness." Together, let's build a warm and supportive environment for all of our Wizards.

🧱Bricks of Brilliance: Shout-Outs & Spotlights

A huge thank-you to our incredible teaching staff who met in data teams this week! They collaborated to evaluate student progress, review grade-level trends, and create thoughtful strategies to ensure every learner succeeds. Their dedication, care, and intentional approach continue to inspire!

Shout-out to our outstanding fifth graders for launching their morning "Words of Wisdom" announcements this month! Their hard work and practice truly showed. Every 5th grade student will have the opportunity to participate 1-2 times throughout the school year.

🔨 Tools for Success: Reminders for Families

Our annual Week of Respect kicks off on Monday, October 5th! Here is a quick reminder of our spirit dress-up days:

  • Monday: Wear Blue

  • Tuesday: Wear Comfy Clothes

  • Wednesday: Wear Tie Dye

  • Thursday: Wear your favorite sports teams or team colors

  • Friday: Show your Washington Pride!

Join us for Washington’s Annual Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 7th! Leave the car behind and walk or bike to school to enjoy fresh air, promote health, and help reduce morning traffic. Students will be greeted upon arrival by our PTO with some treats and fun to kick off the day! Please remember to dismount and walk bicycles when you get to the Washington blacktop. Thank you!

Last week, students in grades 1 through 5 finished in our first i-ready benchmark assessments of the year. These assessments help drive instructional decisions in our classrooms. Teachers use this data to plan for small groups and target gaps in learning. I use the data to identify trends across our school and identify our strengths and areas where more support is needed. To access your child's score report, please follow the steps in the document located in our Friday Folders. There you can find the District Report Code

Sincerely,

Kelly O’Brien, Principal
