Dear Washington Wizards,
⭐ Laying the Foundation: A Message from Mrs. O’Brien
As we enter the second week of October, our focus centers on inclusion. Creating a space where every student feels seen, valued, and welcomed is key to our school community. This week, classes will engage in activities that celebrate our differences and encourage students to invite someone new to join them at lunch or play. We encourage families to talk at home about how small acts of inclusion make our Wizards stronger together.
🧱Bricks of Brilliance: Shout-Outs & Spotlights
A huge thank-you to Mrs. Holben, Mrs. Denise and Mrs. Deluca for organizing Bike/Walk to School Day, complete with coffee for parents, chalk on the blacktop, and treats for our students! What a great day to warm up on a chilly morning.
A warm thank you to the Wyckoff Fire Department for their Fire Safety Week presentation to our Kindergarten and 1st-grade students, thoughtfully organized by Mr. and Mrs. Joachim!
Thank you, Mr. Cornetta and Mrs. Babikian, for organizing Intramurals, a fun, active afternoon for our students! We can’t wait for the championship game.
Thank you to all teachers and aides who assist during recess and lunch daily. I remain in awe of how smoothly operations run and how fortunate our students are to have such dedicated adults supporting them during these periods.
🔨 Tools for Success: Reminders for Families
A friendly reminder for families regarding safety during playground use before and after school: please ensure students stay alert and are supervised. Be mindful of potential hazards such as bicyclists in the lower parking lot, bees in the wooded areas, and proper safety while using parts of our playground like the monkey bars. Additionally, another reminder to walk bikes on ALL blacktop areas at Washington. No students should be riding bikes around the building.
We hope you will join us for the Harvest Festival on October 15th at 3:30 PM on the back field! Please note that students must be accompanied by an adult, as this is not a drop-off event.
Monday, October 12th, is a minimum day for all students.
Sincerely,
Kelly O’Brien, Principal
